JK Residence

A new 4-bedroom family home based in the embassy district in Kathmandu asks for a sensitive live-work functional solution to the informality between private and family activities. The design concept take inspiration from ‘stepwell’ architecture and the local materials of Nepal.

The house has an introverted central courtyard with a swimming pool which serves as a gathering space for all family activities. A series of circulation space, all with visual connection to the courtyard, lead to private accommodation on the second floor with balconies overlooking the central lightwell and to private office on located on the third floor.
